Offered is the actual ball used for Rickey Henderson's 2,950th career hit in 2001. Stampings on this Official Major League (Selig) ball remain clear and bold and the ball shows nice game use as it was also signed by Henderson and inscribed "2950 Hit." Unfortunately, the light layer of protective shellac covering the autograph failed to do the job as the signature is faded, though this lot does come with an LOA from the original buyer who purchased this from a 2002 Lelands auction; also included is a photo from that original listing with a clear look at the signature in its original form. The MLB all-time stolen base leader added another 105 hits after this one to finish his Hall of Fame career at 3,055.
