Great photo of George Herman 'Babe' Ruth and other student baseball players at St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys in Baltimore, Maryland in 1912. His baseball prowess was quickly recognized at St. Mary's, and it would be only a few short years until his professional career began with the Red Sox in 1914. This photo is a Type IV and was printed in the 1950's, meaning it was taken off a dupliate negative from an image originally taken in 1912. Yet it is still a great one to own, as a Type I of this photo could cost well over $100,000, if you could even find one. Photo is 7" x 9" and was issued by International News Photos; Ruth's image is easy to identify on the top row towards the right. Some gentle foxing and hazing to the photograph but nothing to really distract. A Letter of Authenticity is included with this lot.
