After running 10th in the 11 horse field early in the race, Victory Gallop unleashed a powerful and sustained drive at the top of the stretch that propelled him to a last jump nose decision over his rival. Victory Gallop continued to race into his career finished third in the 1999 Dubai World Cup, setting up a 4-year-old season in which he won the Whitney Handicap (Grade I) and established a track record in the Stephen Foster Handicap (Grade II) at Churchill Downs. As a respected stallion, he stood at WinStar Farm in Versailles, Kentucky, before he was sold to the Jockey Club of Turkey in 2008. The shoe was acquired by Victory Gallop's caretaker at WinStar Farm during the 2003 breeding season where Victory Gallop resided early in his stallion career.
