Presented is the opportunity to possess a terrific trove of both Rusty Staub and New York sports memorabilia. Daniel "Rusty" Staub was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1944. He played 23 Major League seasons: Houston Colt .45s (1963-68), Montreal Expos (1969-71 & '79), New York Mets (1972-75 & 1981-85), Detroit Tigers (1976-79), Texas Rangers (1980). He is the only Major Leaguer in history to have had 500 hits for four different teams: Houston, Montreal, New York Mets, and Detroit. The 6-time All-Star had 292 home runs and a career .279 batting average. A right fielder and first baseman, Staub in his late career was usually a designated hitter or pinch hitter. While Montreal, Staub spoke French with the fans, and became enormously popular. Known as Rusty, because of his orange/red hair, Staub was nicknamed by French speaking Montreal fans as "Le Grand Orange" (The Big Orange).
