He was one of the "Eight Men Out" thanks to his participation in the Black Sox scandal of 1919. And like his more famous teammate, "Shoeless Joe Jackson," Eddie Cicotte's resume was Cooperstown-worthy. The knuckleballer posted a stingy 2.38 ERA over his 14-year career, primarily with the White Sox. Like Jackson, the shame-ridden Cicotte faded into obscurity after receiving the lifetime ban from baseball, presumably living under an alias the rest of his days. Just prior to his death in 1969, the Michigan native came out of the shadows, proclaiming he had served his debt to society. It was during this time that he signed this near-white, "Energized League Ball" that is in EX-MT+ condition. The gorgeous signature is a perfect 10/10 in black ink and reads: "Eddie V. Cicotte White Sox." This is a real rarity as only a very few Cicotte singles exist, and this is likely to be the finest. Comes with an LOA from PSA.
