"The Duke of Flatbush" was Hall of Fame center fielder Edwin "Duke" Snider, who played for the Brooklyn Dodgers during the greatest years of its Brooklyn tenure, 1947-57. Presented is a Duke Snider signed government postcard. Snider continued with the Dodgers when the club moved to Los Angeles for the 1958 season. Duke stayed with Los Angeles through the 1962 season and then played his final two years with the New York Mets (1963) and the San Francisco Giants (1964). The 8-time All-Star was a 2-time World Champion, including 1955, when the Dodgers won the team's only Brooklyn World Series. Snider hit .295 in his career with 407 home runs. During the decade of the 1950s, he had more home runs (326) and more RBIs (1,031) than anyone else in the Major Leagues.

The 3x5" offered government postcard has a neat "Duke Snider" signature. scripted in black ink. The postcard exhibits some slight darkening. The card was postmarked in Vero Beach, Florida, home of the Dodgers' spring training base, and it is postmarked on March 6, 1950. The card was pre-addressed to a doctor living in Topeka, Kansas. On the address side of the card are some notations in pencil, written by an unknown hand: "Duke Snider/OF/Majors 1947-1964/Hall of Fame." The postcard has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA Certified "AUTHENTIC AUTO."
