Conlon and Cobb were both icons in their field. Conlon started his photographic career shooting for the New York Telegraph in the 1900s, using a Graflex camera. He soon became recognized as a master, and his photos became staples of the best baseball publications, such as the Sporting News and the Spalding Guide. He was rediscovered in the 1990s when a book of his photographs was published. Great baseball writer Roger Angell said the book, called "The Photographs of Charles M. Conlon," was "the best book of baseball photos ever published." Hall of Famer Ty Cobb is in a classic pose as he follows through, eyes still on the ball. Appears to be in the 1920s, but while he was still with the Detroit Tigers. Conlon stamp and handwriting. Tiny tear (approx. an eighth of an inch) in one corner, otherwise good condition. The master, Cobb at his craft, shot by Conlon, the master at his craft. Black and white. (8x10").
