Displayed is a 1925 World Series Game 1 ticket stub for the Oct. 7th game at Pittsburgh's Forbes Field between the visiting Washington Senators and the home Pittsburgh Pirates. The game drew 41,723 patrons. The wondrous baseball immortal, Inaugural Hall of Fame pitcher Walter Johnson, went the distance for the Senators in recording a 4-1 win. The Senators scored first, on a Joe Harris homer off the Pirates starter and loser, Lee Meadows. Washington added to its lead in the top of the 5th inning on a 2-run single by Hall of Famer Sam Rice. The Pirates' lone run came on a home run by Hall of Famer Pie Traynor in the 6th inning. The game's final run scored on a single by the Senators' Ossie Bluege in the top of the 9th inning. Mathewson scattered five hits and fanned 10 batters. Despite this Game 1 loss by the Pirates, Pittsburgh came back to win the Series in seven games. The offered ticket stub measures 2x4.4". It is for a First Floor Reserved seat selling for $5.50. in part, the stub reads, FORBES FIELD/World's Championship Games/National League vs. American League/1925.
