Exceptional Babe Ruth offering includes an Official American League (Barnard) ball dating from his first home run of the 1928 New York Yankees World Championship season, signed by the Bambino as well as Yankees second baseman Leo Durocher. As usual, Babe has signed on the sweet spot in 4/10 black fountain ink, while an inscription in unknown hand in the panel below details the significance of the ball, including that it was hit into the right field bleachers at Fenway Park and recovered by George, with the rest illegible. Durocher - who went 2-for-3 with an RBI as New York captured the second half of a double-header by a 7-2 margin - has signed in black 5/10 ink on the panel to the left of Ruth's autograph, thus this could easily be displayed as single-signed. Ball shows extensive use and displays scattered areas of minor surface loss. Though it took until his 6th game of the '28 season to connect for his first round-tripper, the 33-year-old Sultan of Swat had no trouble hitting his stride, bashing an AL-leading 54 homers with 146 RBI and a .323 average as the Yanks captured their second consecutive World Series and third in franchise history. Comes with PSA LOA for autograph.
