Los Angeles Dodgers home jersey worn by coach Chuck Dressen during the club's inaugural season in Los Angeles in 1958. The white flannel jersey is lettered "Dodgers" across the front and features the number 7 on the left breast and reverse. All letters and reverse numerals are applied in blue felt, while all front numerals are applied in red felt. A Rawlings Hall of Fame Flannel label and "42" size tag appear on the left front tail. Directly below the manufacturer's label are Dressen's name and the year, "58," each chain-stitched in blue. Located on the interior left front tail are a wash tag and a flag tag reading "Set 1 1958." The jersey is original as issued and displays moderate wear. Dressen had been both a coach and manager of the Dodgers in prior years, winning back-to-back pennants in 1952 and 1953. After he demanded a three-year contract following the 1953 season, Dodgers owner Walter O'Malley fired him and replaced him with Walter Alston. 1958 marked Dressen's return to the Dodgers and he remained with the club for two seasons before becoming manager of the Braves in 1960. A baseball lifer, he continued coaching/scouting/managing right up to the time of his death in 1966.
