Mickey Mantle Louisville Slugger pro-model (K55") bat dating from the 1980-1983 manufacturing period. This is an interesting Mickey Mantle post-career bat because it appears to have been used by Ken Griffey Sr. during the referenced labeling period. As explained in PSA's accompanying LOA, the oral history that accompanied the bat at the date of its evaluation was that Ken Griffey Sr. used this bat during the 1982 season. Evidence of that attribution can be found on the knob, where Griffey's uniform number ("6") is written in black marker, and by the heavy use shown, including an approximate three-inch crack in the upper handle. The ordering history of the bat is unknown, but as PSA speculates, it may have been ordered by the New York Yankees for use by Mantle. (Mantle was a spring-training coach with the club and the guest of honor at the club's annual Old Timers Day games each each year during a four-year span from 1980-1983.). The bat measures 35.5 inches and weighs 33.6 ounces. Full LOA from PSA.
