The Federal League of Base Ball Clubs was a Major League for the 1914-15 seasons. It started as a minor league in 1913 and then became a rival to the established National and American Leagues. The cover of the displayed offering reads, "1915 RED BOOK SUPPLEMENT/Federal League Supplement." Measuring 4.4x7.5" with a simulated leather red cover, the eight-page book (with several pages blank) was issued by publisher Louis Heilbroner. The title page of the small book reads, in part, "Information of Players Secured by the Federal League Clubs, 1914/This supplement is issued in connection with HEILBRONER'S RECORD BOOK to provide information of the Federal League players. The information herein presented is for the exclusive use of subscribers of the Record Book." The Red Book was a standard reference book for baseball for most of its existence, but publication of the Red Book ceased in 2009. This offered book contains information on over 200 Federal League players. In an alphabetical listing, each player is listed by last name, and first name/With club 1914/From club 1913-14/Position/Bats/Throws/Age/Height/Weight. Hall of Famers listed in this offering: Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown, a pitcher for the St. Louis Terrapins and Brooklyn Tip-Tops; Edd Roush, outfielder for the Indianapolis Hoosiers and Newark Peppers; Joe Tinker, a shortstop for the Chicago Whales. The pages are partially detached from the staples that bind the pages to the cover. The staples holding the pages exhibit some rusting. The spine of the book shows some small, partial paper loss, and the pages show a general darkening from the passage of time; however, overall, the book has weathered well the span of over a century since its publication, and the aforementioned minor defects do not diminish in any significant way the presentation of the book.
