Amazing pieces of history relating to one of the modern-era NHL's most successful franchises, the Pittsburgh Penguins - specifically beloved coach "Badger" Bob Johnson. First is Johnson's personal notebook from the 1990-91 season, which culminated in the Pens winning the first of their five Stanley Cups to date. Well worn 6x9" stenographer's pad is jammed with over 100 pages (many front-and-back) of handwritten notes by Johnson, in addition to the front and inside-front cover; the year 1990 is written on the cover and this pad covers the 10-game span from games 11-20 (late October through mid-November). Some spectacular insight is contained inside including plays, game results, and inspirational quotes. Also included is a 20x25.5" photo matted and framed to 25x31.5". In it, Badger Bob is shown behind the bench holding a notebook much like this one, as it seems this was his system for taking notes and he appears to have used a different pad for every 10 games. Sadly, shortly after taking Pittsburgh to the promised land for the first time, Johnson was diagnosed with a brain tumor and passed away early in the 1991-92 season; this image hung in Pittsburgh's Civic Arena as a tribute to the man who coined the apt phrase, "It's a great day for hockey."
