1982 Moscow Tour Book was used and signed by the legendary Wayne Gretzky and his family, among others. Hardcover English-language book measuring 5x8" is simply titled, "Moscow," and spans roughly 200 pages, including many photos. Signatures on the title page include Wayne; siblings Keith, Kim, Glen, and Brent; and parents Walter and Phyllis. Each year, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) holds its World Championships at rotating locations; unfortunately, the tournament starts during the National Hockey League playoffs, meaning that top players don't get to participate for their country's team unless they miss the playoffs or are eliminated early. After having the NHL's 2nd-best record during the 1981-82 regular season, the Edmonton Oilers were stunned in a first-round playoff upset, freeing The Great One to play in the IIHF tournament for the only time. This book originates from that Cold War era visit; the home ice advantage proved enough for the USSR squad to capture the Gold Medal despite Gretzky leading the tourney in scoring, with Team Canada settling for a 3rd place Bronze Medal finish. Comes with PSA LOA for signatures.
