Original Type I photograph of Hall of Fame pitcher Waite Hoyt as a member of the Boston Red Sox taken by renowned baseball photographer Charles Conlon. Hoyt is captured warming up on the sideline prior to a game. This is an exceptionally early Waite Hoyt image, dating from either his first or second full season in the Majors. Conlon's credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with Hoyt's name and team affiliation (written in Conlon's hand). Also on the reverse are three Brown Brothers credit stamps and various editorial markings. Hoyt appeared in one game with the New York Giants in 1918 before being traded to Rochester of the International League. The following year he signed with the Red Sox and played two seasons with the club before being traded to the New York Yankees. It was with the Yankees that Hoyt developed into one of the game's best pitchers. The ace of the New York Yankees' fabled 1927 club, Hoyt won 161 games during the decade 1920-1929 and finished his career with 237 wins. The photo measures 8x9.75" and displays moderate creasing, as well as editorial outlining. Good to Very Good condition overall. Culled from the Legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
