Fascinating collection related to the 1934 Babe Ruth Training Camp Contest. Contestants had to submit coupons and receive an entry form to register and select players from an extensive list. This lot explores that journey: the typewritten letter is really cool, with a "Hi, Pal!" salutation and notification that this young entrant has qualified for the finals, letter has a facsimile Babe Ruth signature. Type I photos show the participant and an Identification Card with the winner's name - and his parent's - is also included along with several newspaper clippings. Finally, a 6.5" diameter patch in a letterman's-jacket style is included, having come directly off a uniform sweater, stating "BABE DEL. RUTH" in red letters on a baseball-style white background.
