This even dozen photos are from the scrapbook collection of Joe Jackson, one of the more controversial figures of the 1919 Black Sox scandal. The collection includes photos of: Circa 1932 Joe Jackson and wife Katie; Joe Jackson with wife in car; Individual photo of Jackson with small tear to left edge; Photo of Joe in front of his house which is now the Joe Jackson museum; Two photos of his wife Kate including one at League Park; Photo of Joe with his wife and one other; 3"x5" photo of Eddie Collins batting at Comiskey Park; and more. Most of, if not all, are from the Jackson scrapbook and a few have black paper on back from being removed from that book. Various sizes with the largest measuring 4"x6.5".
2019 marks the 100th Anniversary of the most infamous scandal in sports history. The 1919 World Series was the scene of the crime, the culprits were eight members of the Chicago “Black Sox” and the crime was game fixing. Shoeless Joe Jackson and seven other members of the “Black Sox” were subsequently banned from baseball three years later and that ban still stands to this day.
