This little-known award was obtained from the collection of legendary broadcaster Mel Allen, who served as World Series announcer for 1938, 1940, 1942-43 and 1947-50 before receiving this honor. The wood plaque, made by LG Balfour, measures 8.25x10" and the plate has an etched image of Allen. Chandler, of course, is known for presiding over the league and allowing Jackie Robinson to play.
