Topps enjoyed great success with their 1952 issue of Look ‘N See, so they repeated the theme in 1954 with their iconic set of Scoop, showcasing famous events in history. A good number of the cards represent famous moments in boxing/sports history: #39 Dempsey Defeats Willard (10, including 1 with scratch off coating), #40 Joe Louis New Champ (9), #71 Sullivan Defeated (9, including 1 with scratch off coating) and #65 Marciano KO’s Walcott (10). The remaining 40 cards represent other important events in world history. Cards grade 20% EX-MT, 55% VG-EX to EX, 15% VG, 10% lesser. As is common with this set, approx. 10% of the cards are oc, and an equal number have lite remnants of coating still showing on the surface. All in all, a nice collection of Scoop cards, with just under half being the more valuable sports-themed issues!
