This wonderful artifact is a seat from the original Yankee Stadium, which opened in 1923 and from which this item was removed for the 1973 renovation. All original, shows tremendous use with some chipping, the number "12" is painted in the seat back in black stencil. Seemingly one of the few pinstripes numbers not retired, number 12 has been worn most recently by Troy Tulowitski, but other luminaries include Waite Hoyt, Gil McDougald, Billy Martin, and Roger Clemens (1999). Plate on seat back reads, "Yankee Stadium, The House that Ruth Built, -50th- Anniversary, 1923-73, Bronx, NY." Splendid piece from where the legend started.
