Known as being the first black pitcher in Major League Baseball, Dan Bankhead only appeared in four games in 1947 before he was shipped down to the minors. He was not to be see again until his return to Brooklyn in 1950. This photograph was taken by Barney Stein of NY for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 and is the photo used for Bankhead's 1950 Bowman baseball card. Type I, this 8x10" is truly a rare image and stamped "Brooklyn National League Baseball Club, Inc."
