Home white flannel navy pinstripe game worn Jerry Coleman jersey. Jersey screams Yankees. Comes from a long-time Yankee regular from a time of DiMaggio, Mantle, Berra, and Rizzuto, an era when the Yankees of the 1950s ruled the baseball world. Coleman was a Yankee mainstay who played nine seasons (1949-57) for the Bronx Bombers as an infielder, went into the broadcast booth and was eventually elected to receive the Ford C. Frick Award as a Hall of Fame broadcaster. Coleman was on four Yankee World Series champions. Jersey has the legendary "NY" sewn in navy blue felt on the upper left chest. "Coleman" and "55 - 42" are embroidered in navy on the bottom left front tail. The jersey originally had eight buttons down the front, and the bottom one is missing. Spalding tag and "42" patch sewn on inside back collar. On inside front left tail is wash tag with "SET 1 1955" flag. Number "52" is sewn on back of jersey in navy felt. Jersey was most probably recycled for minor league use, a common practice in that era, since there are light remnants of a number "4" underneath the "5" on the back of jersey. Since Coleman's number was "42," this was most likely. Displays heavy regular season game use from the Yankees' pennant-winning 1955 season. Also, a cream-colored look from toning. Exhibits some holes on the front, one below the number "2" on the back and two holes on the bottom back tail. Also present are a number of faded stains on various parts of the jersey. This jersey comes with a LOA from MEARS (315800) for the game use and has been graded an A5.
