As one of the two seminal sets of the postwar era, 1948 Leaf is one of the most widely collected issues, and it is available in high grade, with a PSA pop of over 700 cards in 8 or better. That availability fuels the popularity of high grade 1948s; with enough money and time it is possible to pursue a high grade set and there is an active competition on the PSA registry. Which brings us to this card, a gray back version. A collector looking to assemble a top flight registry set literally cannot pick a better card. There are nine ‘straight 8’ PSA Sullivan cards, none better (there is a qualified 9 but that is really the equivalent of a straight 7 or worse).
