Addendum: We have just received a full LOA from Resolution Photomatching that confirms this jersey was in fact worn by Walt Frazier during game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals on May 8th, 1970!

Like the 1968 Jets and 1969 Mets before them, the 1969-70 Knicks overcame impossible odds to prevail against a stacked Lakers team in the 1970 NBA Finals. Adhering to an egalitarian system whose primary tenant was “Hit the open man with the ball regardless of who is in the jersey,” the 1969-70 Knicks registered a league-high 60 wins. Still, they found themselves facing a dramatic live-or-die Game 7 in the 1970 Finals against a Los Angeles team which featured Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, and Wilt Chamberlain. No one expected Willis Reed to play in Game 7, so when he appeared for the warm-ups, the crowd at MSG erupted. Reed scored only 4 points in that game, but the player who ultimately carried New York to victory was Walt “Clyde” Frazier, who dropped 36 points and dished out 19 assists. Presented here is the jersey Clyde wore for that historic Game 7 at Madison Square Garden and one of the ten most important basketball jerseys ever offered for public sale. Why? Let us count the ways: 1. It was worn in the defining game of the career of one of the NBA’s “Top Fifty” players. 2. It was worn in the defining game of the New York Knicks franchise, the one in which they captured their first NBA title, and the most dramatic Game 7 in NBA Finals history. Clyde’s home white knit, with orange and white trim around the collar and arm openings, displays “New York 10” arched across the chest with “Frazier 10” on the verso, all sewn-on in blue and orange tackle twill. Meanwhile, all the proper tagging resides in the tail, including “Gerry Cosby,” “44,” “69,” and “L.” Exhibits nice wear. It’s also important to note that Frazier wore this jersey throughout the 1969-70 season, one in which he achieved All-Star, All-NBA, and All-Defensive Team status by averaging 20.9 points, 8.2 assists, and 6.0 rebounds, while shooting 51.8 % from the field. Provenance: The consignor is a former Knicks ball boy and a personal friend of Walt Frazier since the 1960s. He was with Clyde at a New York City bar following Game 7. There, Walt indicated he would send his friend the Game 7 jersey and shortly after, he followed through on his promise.
