1953 Topps Willie Mays #244 PSA 4. Mays is shown in spring training catching a ball in his home New York Giants uniform. The card states, "One of the big reasons for the failure of the Giants to repeat their pennant winning ways in '52 was the loss of Willie to the service early in the campaign." Actually, Mays never played professional baseball at all in 1953 as he was still in the military. He came back in 1954 to hit .345, with 41 homers and 110 RBI to lead the Giants to a World Series sweep of the Cleveland Indians.
