Nice vintage Currier and Ives print. Currier and Ives produced prints that were created by fine artists and then hand-colored and produced as lithographs. As technology grew over years, the lithographs were produced in color. The firm of Currier and Ives operated from 1835-1907, and it was based in New York City. The firm produced two to three new lithographs every week for 64 years. Their lithographs, with family values and sentimental renderings, appealed to Victorian tastes and middle class pocketbooks. The portrait shows from left: George Washington, his step-grandson and adopted son George Washington Parke Custis, George Washington's step-granddaughter Eleanor "Nelly" Parke Custis Washington, and George Washington's wife Martha Washington. During the American Revolution, George Washington Parke Custis and Nelly did not live full-time at Washington's Mount Vernon, Virginia home, but were often in residence. The lithograph print is framed at 12.5x16". The print has some slight staining and spotting along the white border, but otherwise is in good condition. The wooden frame has some chipping, scratching and paint loss.
