The Batman TV Series was unique in that it was a campy, tongue-in-cheek action/adventure show that was a comedy at heart, especially for adult viewers. Promoting morality with simplistic sayings and fantastical plots involving villians who were cartoonlike in their actions, the show was originally a hit, but lasted only three seasons (1966-1968). Teen-age and younger fans would often take the plots and characters literally, while the older audience enjoyed the camp comedy. Adam West is in the shot as Batman, Burt Ward appears in the photo as Robin, and Yvonne Young is in the shot as Batgirl.
