Here is steely-eyed, not-so-old "Double X," after an "off year" and just before playing in the '31 World Series with the Philadelphia A's against the St. Louis Cardinals. Proving Einstein's Theory of Relativity through baseball, Foxx's relatively off-year found him hitting only .291 with a mere 30 homers and a pedestrian 120 RBI. That's puny when compared to his prodigious production in his back-to-back MVP years in the seasons after '31 when "The Beast" hit .364 with 58 homers and 169 RBI in '32, and .356 with 48 homers with 163 RBI in '33. When one has "off seasons" like Foxx, the Hall of Fame becomes a shoo-in.
