Did you realize Babe Ruth got paid only $7,456.56 for his final year with the Boston Braves? No wonder the Babe was bitter at the end, he had every right to be. This outstanding letter goes into detail on what he got paid and in how many games, but no matter what, he got skinned. On fabulous Boston Braves stationary this letter tells a great story. Emil Fuchs who bought Ruth from Ruppert as a last ditch effort to revive the dying club promised Ruth a managerial position in 1936 but as it turned out, that was just lip service. Fuchs retired and by the date of of this letter, December 28th, his name was crossed off the letterhead as is "George Herman Ruth" listed as Assistant Manager. This snipey letter is from John O'Leary who likely replaced Secretary Edmund Cunningham, also crossed off (how vindictive). "It's impossible to tell how many of these games he played in." Yeah right... From the estate of Joe Bihler, the right hand man of Babe Ruth's agent Christy Walsh and in turn Ruth himself.
