Extremely rare collection of letters addressed to Babe Ruth from Estate of Joe Bihler, Babe Ruth agent Christy Walsh's right-hand man. Collection includes: 1) Typed letter from Strawberry-Hill Press asking Ruth for his permission to use his likeness in an advertising campaign to promote their books on baseball. Dated June 15, 1938, with envelope and a copy of Ruth's response. 2) Handwritten letter to Ruth asking him to write this "baseball enthusiast" a quick note about something exciting from his baseball career. The writer goes on to say that he already has a response from Walter Johnson. Dated Jan 25, 1939 and includes an unused self addressed and stamped envelope. 3) Typed letter from the Franklin County Agricultural Society asking Ruth to attend an event at Franklin County to entertain some children that have never met or seen a real "professional baseball player." Dated April 27, 1939. 4) Typed letter from Leake and Watts Home School asking Ruth to attend an "All-Sports Dinner" being thrown for 325 orphans. Dated May 1, 1939. 5) Typed letter from Saint Agnes Brotherhood inviting both Mr. and Mrs. Ruth to attend a Polo Game to benefit crippled children. Dated May 3, 1939. 6) Typed letter from the Furniture Club of Detroit inviting Ruth to a charity golf match to benefit disabled children. Dated April 29, 1939. 7) Typed letter from the Harrisonburg Athletic Club asking Ruth to attend their opening day game. Dated April 28, 1939. 8) Typed letter from Bridgeport Senior City Baseball League inviting Ruth to attend their opening day ceremonies and throw out the first pitch. Dated May 1, 1939. 9) Typed letter from Kips Bay Boys' Club asking Ruth if he'd attend their awards ceremony and to hand out the trophies to all the children that won major awards. Dated April 29, 1939. 10) Typed letter from the Essex County Baseball League asking Ruth to visit and give the players some advise on starting a baseball career. Dated April 27, 1939. 11) Typed letter from Spalding along with a proposal for Ruth to attend the Sportsmen's Show in Detroit. They are proposing to pay him $1800.00 to attend the nine day show plus $200.00 for expenses. Dated November 22, 1943 and December 1, 1943.
