Wonderful keepsakes from 19th century college baseball. Unusual cardboard "scorecards" (3x5.5") list one team on each side. The prospective starting line-ups, are printed and last-minute changes have been penciled in. One is Wesleyan versus 1897 Boston Nationals, known as the Beaneaters, who won the National League pennant that season. They eventually became the Braves. Boston played a tough line-up against Wesleyan, using: Hamilton (HOF), Duffy (HOF), Collins (HOF), Lowe, Lewis, etc. The scorecard is filled in for both teams and shows how the Beaneaters baked the college boys 12-3. Boston scorecard is archivally repaired and has tears. Most scorecards have tears or are separated. Others feature Wesleyan versus Yale, Dartmouth (2 different), Amherst, Williams, Manhattan, Syracuse, Vermont, Lafayette, Holy Cross.
