Lucille Ball's screen worn outfit from "Meet the People" (1944). As was common with musicals made during the war, this was a star-studded MGM picture. Ball plays a stuck-up but popular Broadway star who joins the World War II home front effort as a welder in a shipyard. There she meets a fellow welder, played by Dick Powell, and (What else?) falls in love. But this costume is not Ball's welder's togs, but instead a fancier wardrobe, in dress-up mode. Outfit is an attractive gray jumpsuit and off-white blouse. Vest has tagging reading "Lucille Ball" inside. Originates from Profiles in History, whose 8/3/2001 invoice is included. Invoice shows: Hollywood Auction 9, Lot 100 - Lucille Ball Jumpsuit from "Meet the People". Also included is a certificate of Authenticity signed by Roslyn Herman of Roslyn Herman Antiques & Collectibles.
