Nice classic 40's style pennant for a historic ballpark. Reads 'Briggs Stadium, Detroit Tigers". Green background, with orange and white. Shows a Tiger player hitting a ball that the Tiger "logo" catches in his mouth. Briggs Stadium was the home of the Detroit Tigers from 1912 through 1999. At the time of the Tigers' final game there, Briggs Stadium, originally Navin Field, was tied with Fenway Park as the oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. Ty Cobb streaked havoc on its base paths; Babe Ruth hit arguably baseball's longest home run over center field there, an estimated 550 to 600 feet on July 18, 1921. (26.5") Good condition with small piece of tip missing. Some soiling.
