One of the truly rare times one is afforded the luxury of being offered one of these prestigious awards. This is the actual 1952 Miss America Trophy awarded to Colleen Kay Hutchins, Mis America 1952. Brigham Young University beauty queen went from being Miss Utah to the ultimate glory in Atlantic City. Resplendent trophy (15x36") stands on luxurious wood base with gold plaque in front reading, "Miss America 1952". Comes with large photograph of Ms. Hutchins holding this very trophy, framed to 26x33". The figure at the top has been repaired but is otherwise in excellent condition. We know of only one other Miss America first place trophy to have been sold in all these years, which was the 1926 Norma Smallwood which Lelands in 2015 for $6,000.
Interestingly, Ms. Hutchins has a rich sports history behind her bustling with great athletes. The sister of perennial NBA All Star Mel Hutchins, she went on to marry New York Knicks legend Ernie Vandeweghe. She is the grandmother of tennis star CoCo Vandeweghe, her daughter is Olympic swimmer Tauna Vandeweghe and following in his father's footsteps is her son Kiki Vandeweghe, former NBA star and high-ranking executive.
