Gorgeous example of classic sports illustration art is entitled "Field Goal Kick" and was published in the Super Bowl IX program. They were doing a retrospective on past Super Bowls. Watercolor on canvas board by supreme illustrator Daniel Schwartz shows the game winning 32-yard field goal in Super Bowl V. Signed by Schwartz, this work effectively brings us back to that thrilling moment in 1971. Measures 18x24". As a footnote, 1971 was right at the height of the nostalgia craze in America and looking back at past Super Bowls makes perfect sense. Daniel Schwartz is an award-winning illustrator who has worked for such top periodicals as Esquire, Fortune and Playboy. His works are in the collections of Leonard Bernstein, William Styron, Gay Talese, William Paley and Daniel Selznick. A sculptor as well, he was commissioned by the NFL in 1968 to create the bronze that became the Walter Payton NFL "Man of the Year" Award.
