This jersey has everything going for it. A rookie jersey of one of the true legends of the NFL and a specimen worthy of Sir Lawrence of the Meadowlands. 1981 Lawrence Taylor NY Giants game worn jersey comes with impeccable provenance with LOA from the son of former NY Giants head coach Ray Perkins (1979-82) LT's first NFL coach. Letter states that Lawrence Taylor gave this jersey directly to Perkins' son, from whom this jersey originally emanates. A perfect specimen is definitively photo-matched, which was not difficult to do because of the heavy and distinctive use. There are multiple scrapes, abrasions, paint transfers and a lucky number of 13 team repairs along the shoulders and sleeves. Custom "tailored", both sleeves have been cut open to accommodate Taylor's significant arm mass. Interestingly, the all original nameplate sport the extra initial "L. Taylor" to distinguish him and Billy Taylor, who had his final year that year in 1981. The final stroke, the jersey is signed and inscribed "1981 Rookie Season" on the back number. There is a JSA LOA for this signature. Lawrence Taylor is a one of a kind. That rare athlete that can change or win a game on his command.
