Graded by PSA PR 1. The mate card of the one just sold in our Invitational Auction, this is the only example of the 1912 La Azora Cigar card of this variety ever graded and encapsulated by PSA. Produced by the La Azora Cigar Company, this approximately 5.5x7" card was part of a two-part panel, with the back of each panel displaying the Detroit Tigers home and away baseball schedules for 1912. Fortunately for baseball collectors, each panel exhibited a different, and extremely unique Ty Cobb image. This Cobb image has him running and reaching for a fly ball, a scarce fielding pose of the Georgia Peach. Since Cobb is shown much more often in his standard hitting poses, all known fielding poses of Cobb are very popular with collectors. Tigers full home schedule is on the reverse. We do not know for sure if La Azora were really "The Cigar of Cigars" as proclaimed on the reverse, but they sure were smart enough to put images of Cobb on the front of these schedule advertisement cards.
