NFL Hall of Famer John Riggins is best remembered for sealing the Redskins victory in Super Bowl XVII with his 43-yard run in the fourth quarter to defeat the AFC's Miami Dolphins. For this work, entitled "The Rivalry", artist Stephen Holland captures the raw power of The Diesel as his Redskins battle the Cowboys at the height of their NFC rivalry in the early 1980's. Oil on board measuring 46 x 66", this work is brightly colored, highly detailed, and appears to be moving right before our eyes. From this original artwork, Holland later created much smaller limited edition prints. This is on a whole another level.
