Gorgeous child size kimono has incredible sports theme design. Most interesting is a baseball bat with a fairly accurate "Ty Cobb" signature. There is also a Japanese interpretation of a Connie Mack signed baseball. Undoubtedly, the Japanese saw Mack and his signature during the 1934 tour of Japan. The newspaper supplement of the team-signed photo appeared nationwide with Mack's signature. Other graphics include Olympic pattern of the sports connected to 1936 Berlin including American "Football" and Polo (which was not played in 1932). Also includes graphics of top University teams Keio and Waseda. From the Nippon Baseball Kimono Collection, an important archive of baseball and other sports-themed kimonos recently discovered in Japan and exported to the United States. Compiled over many decades they are the finest we have seen.
