Excellent game worn glove from Mariano Rivera, perhaps the best relief pitcher in the history of baseball. The glove was presented by Mariano to his coach Hector Lopez, who mentored him in 1995 at Spring Training in Tampa, Florida. Rivera debuted in the Majors in '95 as a starting pitcher and transitioned to the bullpen later in the year. By 1997, he had permanently assumed the role of closer for the Yanks. Lopez is a star in his own right as a former Yankee and two-time World Series winner. The black Nike PPRO Gold MO 42 has Mariano's name embroidered on it, as well as "Phil 4:13" (the verse means "I can do all this through him who gives me strength"). Nice use. Obtained directly from Lopez and comes with a signed letter from him. The glove was probably used later in Mo's likely Hall of Fame career. Rivera retired with the MLB record for saves at 652 and an ERA of 2.21 and WHIP of 1.00 - the lowest in the live-ball era among qualified pitchers. He was also a 13-time All Star and five-time World Series winner.
