The signed endorsement contains his bold signature,"Abner Doubleday" with rank in another hand as "Colonel 24 Infantry Bvt. Maj. Gen''l U.S.A." Matted with an original albumen photograph of Doubleday in uniform and set into a gilt wood frame that measures 18.25x17". A 4" closed tear passes above the subscription, but it is otherwise VG.
