This one-page handwritten letter dated August 17, 1901, is from Pittsburgh Pirates owner Barney Dreyfuss. Written on "Hotel Brunswick" stationery, Dreyfuss is officially releasing Lewis Carr from the Pirates in his sole season in the majors. Text and signature are in clear, NM ink. 6x7" correspondence is moderately toned, displays two horizontal folds, a few light creases, and is trimmed along the bottom border.
