This offering is a rare style of batting helmet worn by the Reds for several years, most importantly during the 1961 campaign. Batting helmets were, in the early days, shared by team members and often used for several seasons until they were beyond repair. The green fiberglass shell of this helmet is painted white with a red bill and red dot on the very top. Hand painted "C" in red on the front has a "7 3/8" in red laundry marker inside it and an "M" for medium above it. Shows nice use but is uncracked. Overall a terrific helmet with all padding inside intact and an American Baseball Cap sticker with 7 3/8 size. We can only assume the greatness of the players that wore this.
