The first we have seen of its kind, this is an invitation to the grand opening of Navin Field in 1912 that has been vintage framed. The invitation reads, "The Detroit Base Ball Company requests the honor of your presence at the Opening of Navin Field, Thursday afternoon, the eighteenth of April, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, at three o'clock" with "Cleveland versus Detroit" in the bottom left corner and "Admission by card only" in the bottom right. One of the original bandboxes, Navin Field was built by Tigers owner Frank Navin to better accommodate the exploding number of baseball fans in the area. It was subsequently expanded upon by Navin's successor as owner, Walter Briggs, at which time it became known as Briggs Stadium, before finally landing upon the name for which it is best known - Tiger Stadium - in 1961. The invitation appears as though it was slightly trimmed, but it is otherwise has a very good appearance with a hand-colored tiger at the top.
