Nearly 40 years BEFORE the infamous Black Sox scandal, the Chicago White Stockings' fortunes were quite the opposite, capturing the National League (yes, National League) title with a 67-17-2 record, 15 games ahead of the nearest challenger. This sensational cabinet photo commemorates Chicago's first championship baseball team, which featured Hall of Famer Cap Anson, George Gore, who won the batting title that season with a career-high .360 average, and Larry Corcoran, who won a remarkable 43 games - half of the team's 86 played. The photo is enhanced by a "Robinson and Roe" studio logo and address of 77 Clark Street in Chicago. The front is in great condition and appears Excellent, while the blank back is toned and has remnants of some scrapbook paper affixed. It is important to note that there is no paper loss, and the paper that is affixed could be professionally removed.
