Luxurious jacket worn by famed Red Sox slugger Ted Williams on the bench on cool nights. The navy blue-bodied jacket has red, white, and blue trim, with a chenille Red Sox logo on the left portion of the chest. Beautiful use; there are a few small holes at the sleeve cuffs and the last button at the bottom of the jacket is cracked, but it is otherwise in great shape. A Tim McAulliffe tag appears inside the pocket and inside the front tail in very faded marker is "48" for the size and "TW" below. There is also a vintage and faded "9" written in laundry marker inside the collar. Williams is one of the most prolific hitters in baseball history, having finished his career with a .344 batting average, record-setting .482 on-base percentage, and 521 home runs, despite serving three different stints in the military. His sweet swing from the left side of the plate, with a corkscrew action that gave him tremendous power, remains the gold standard for lefty batters. Williams was a first-ballot Hall of Famer and enshrined in Cooperstown in 1966. He is the last player ever to bat over .400 in a single season.
