This absolutely stellar offering is a hinged water pitcher trophy stylized as a baseball in a magnificent art deco design. There are numerous attributes that make the trophy special, including the overall aesthetic of a baseball merging with a pitcher, complete with a baseball bat serving as the handle. An early catcher on top predates the era with double gloves, hardly a mask to speak of, and a purely 19th-century look. The trophy reads on its face, "Spalding Trophy, 1920, YMCA, Industrial Base Ball League Champions, Alan Wood Iron & Steel Company," while the team's roster appears on the opposite side. Inside the inscription there is a Spalding medallion that reads, "A.G. Spalding & Bros., Est. A.D. 1876." The trophy was made by Dieges & Clust and is in gorgeous condition. It is obvious the laces on the baseball are done with the utmost quality and precision, and the trophy is overall NM. It measures a foot tall and weighs 4.5 lbs. This beautiful relic is "The Missing Link" of Spalding trophies, from a period when baseball really began to take off in the country, en route to its place as America's favorite pastime.
