The first letter, typed on beautiful, Brooklyn National League Baseball Club letterhead, is from Frank York to Dutch Carter is a response to a request by Carey of a raise for the 1933 season. In it, York expresses his wish that the talks be postponed. The second letter is an onion-skin, partial copy of the original letter to York addressing Carey's desire for an increase in salary.
