The 1941 Play Ball series was produced by Gum, Inc. and is comprised of 72 cards. The 1941 set differed from past installments in that color was added to the fronts, with many of the cards simply being colorized versions of the player’s 1940 card. This complete set is highlighted by the likes of Joe DiMaggio (VG-EX+), Ted Williams (VG-EX), Jimmie Foxx (VG-EX), Hank Greenberg (VG-EX), Mel Ott (Good), Pee Wee Reese (VG), Lefty Gomez (EX), Bill Dickey (VG+), Charlie Gehringer (EX), Red Ruffing (EX) and Dom DiMaggio (VG-EX). The set is also noted for the single, simultaneous appearance of all three DiMaggio brothers in the same trading card production. Though the lower numbered cards (#1-48) are somewhat more prevalent than their higher numbered counterparts, the complete set is exceedingly rare. 30% VG-EX or better, 50% VG, 20% less.
