This gold football-shaped medal was presented to western John Ford actor Ward Bond in 1930 while playing football for the University of Southern California. Bond was a starting lineman on USC's first National Championship team, and he was a close teammate and associate of John Wayne, who as Marion Robert Morrison had played tackle for USC. Bond was prolific in making movies throughout his career. The football medal measures 1" and is engraved "East-West New Year's Day Pasadena" and "USC 47 Pittsburgh 14 1930" - in NM condition.
